Sandbox

Somewhere in the backwaters of a far off land,
Somewhere along the everlasting road,
I crashed into a beauteous visage,
So serene, so tender, a divine curb to a rather insipid journey.

He was but a kind heart, nothing more than a familiar wanderer,
The placid ends of his lips, curled into a fulfilling smile.
He was but a friend, until a trying, later hour,
His child-like quirks, the buttress my imperfections lay propped upon.

The Clyde to my Bonnie, the sandbox to the toddler in me,
A beautiful friendship, much more than what they perceive.
A severed toe, a bleeding sole, yet a promise to stand by,
Drunken nights, insanity, and every single memory.
